Super-resolution microscopy revealed characteristic nanoscale changes in synaptic morphology in mouse models carrying psychiatric disorder–risk mutations. Distinct patterns were observed in schizophrenia and autism spectrum disorder models, suggesting that synaptic nanostructure may help classify disease mechanisms and support future drug discovery.
