Development and Release of PET Image Analysis Software for Assessing Abnormal Tau Accumulation in the Brain

Oct 07, 2026

Researchers at the University of Tsukuba and the National Institutes for Quantum Science and Technology (QST) have developed TAME-Q, open-source software that automates the processing and semi-quantification of florzolotau (18F) PET images. When applied to a single-center dataset of 133 participants, TAME-Q produced results consistent with those of a previously established workflow. The software is expected to support reproducible research on tauopathies such as Alzheimer’s disease and progressive supranuclear palsy.
