The number of patients with Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is increasing with the aging of society. We urgently need to elucidate the pathomechanisms and establish appropriate preventive and therapeutic methods to defeat AD. In this research project, we will generate the world’s first non-human primate models of AD utilizing common marmoset, in which we can expect to recapitulate the disease status more precisely than in AD mouse models. We will try to unravel the pathogenesis of AD, detect biomarkers, and establish new therapeutic strategies by analyzing the AD marmoset models in detail using innovative technologies.
