In this study, we aim to identify stratified groups of patients with distinctive brain morphology through large-scale, data-driven brain imaging analysis incorporating both biological and cross-disease perspectives. We will then model their biological phenotypes in highly valid model mice and patient-derived iPS cells to elucidate molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis. Subsequently, we will explore potential therapeutic compounds based on the identified mechanisms using patient iPS cell-derived neurons and validate them in the model mice. Furthermore, we will develop blood biomarkers based on the elucidated molecular and cellular mechanisms, aiming for clinical application. This study represents a pioneering approach that fosters innovation in psychiatric drug discovery and advances psychiatric medicine.
