The glymphatic system has been attracting attention in relation to brain functions and diseases. The glymphatic system is not only important for the clearance of waste products from the brain parenchyma, but also for the clearance of amyloid beta, which is involved in Alzheimer's disease. The cerebrum of the ferret, a medium-sized carnivore, has similar characteristics to the human cerebrum, such as folds on the cerebral surface. In this research project, using our research techniques for the ferret brain, we will elucidate new circulatory mechanisms of the glymphatic system in the enlarged and complex cerebrum and its importance in disease pathogenesis.
