CRTC1 knockdown in the marmoset visual cortex induces neuronal IEG overexpression, HFOs, and neurodegeneration
Apr 06, 2026
Knocking down CRTC1 in the marmoset visual cortex induces widespread immediate early gene overexpression, high-frequency oscillations, and neurodegeneration beyond the injection site with a higher injection dose. These results imply that CRTC1 plays a role in maintaining cortical homeostasis by suppressing neuronal hyperexcitability and may have a neuroprotective function in the cortex.
