Mammalian neocortex increased its volume enormously and increased functional complexity during the evolution. Especially, primate brains have significantly different characteristics compared to rodent brains and acquired various advanced cognitive functions. The acquisition of these species-specific brain functions suggests that expression of genes with special functions has been acquired specifically in the brain region. Therefore, using marmoset, we will generate ISH based gene expression database to provide useful molecular toolbox to reveal brain evolution.
