A novel multi-neuronal recording with optogenetic identification of axonal projections

Our research goal is to establish the ‘Multi-Linc’ method, which allows us to record spike activity of multiple neurons electrophysiologically and then to identify their axonal projections optogenetically with Channelrhodopsin 2. Isomura lab will develop a basic technology of this method covering the cerebral cortex of behaving rats, and Kimura lab will apply it to the basal ganglia to clarify the circuit mechanism of making a decision. Sakai lab will automatize and optimize it under a high-speed computer control.
